YCGL - Thursday, February 16, 2023. - Those Who Wander May Still Be Lost

Duh!  Head slap!  ðŸ˜±ðŸ¤ª

So, I’m in Steamboat for a couple of days with Erik and Eliza.  They work “from home” in the morning and then ski in the afternoon.  And that works great for me.  I can sleep in late and pad around in the morning and not talk and bother them, so it’s just like any other morning for me.  Then we can catch up a bit during lunch before they head out and I’ve got the afternoon to do stuff like write in the blog and work on travel plans for Spring Summer and Fall.  And other writing that I need to do.

I’ve got a lot to write about over the last week and a half, but I’m going to jump to yesterday.  E and E got in on Tuesday, Valentine’s, and I came up yesterday.  I had the pickup all packed and ready to go.  I had an appointment with my urologist (third year since since my prostate treatments, wow!) at 1:20 and took off from there.  All good news from him and “see you in a year.”  ðŸ˜€

There was light snow in Laramie (<2”) but nothing significant.  The road reports for both Wyoming and Colorado were both “slick in spots with blowing snow.”  Again, no surprises.  Just north of the Colorado border, the snow was drifting onto the highway but certainly not serious.  I was driving 55-65 the whole way, neither passing anyone nor being passed.

I stopped at the convenience store in Walden which is exectly half way there and got a text from Erik

“Hi I imagine you're heading this way soon.  They're has been fierce winds.  The resort didn't open today even.

I’ve never heard that before (the resort being closed due to wind).  And neither the road report or the weather report mentioned high winds, so I just drove carefully.  Finally, the last of the trip going over Rabbit Ears pass was snowy/icey but not bad at all.

It wasn’t until the last mile that it hit me.  I wanted to do all this nice computer work…..and I left my laptop at home, actually both of them, Sally’s old laptop and the Chromebook that I bought on the way to Albuquerque.  So I’m writing this on my phone with an app called BlogTouch. Which is slow typing and it won’t let me upload pictures, which is a real bummer.  And I left my phone charger.   Aauurgghhhhh…

Which means, no pictures of the bread I made for a church couple’s dinner, or of the ribs and wings I made for the Sepurbowl.  And after that last spelling, I’m heading off for a nap.  Maybe later….

OK, then.  To continue.
Erik and Eliza got home from skiing about 5:00 and decided to go for a soak in the hot tub.
Eliza is hidden in the steam.  22° out and 104° in.  Very refreshing.
