YCGL - May 14, 2023 - Short, short and shorter....
Hi All!
This is going to be really quick, but I'll have more time tomorrow. If I can get a connection.
It's travel time. The trailer is hooked up to the pickup, I've got a little more loading to do in the morning (Thursday the 15th) and I'm taking off as quickly as possible.
I'm just going out for two nights, Thursday and Friday, then I'm coming back for Saturday, wrapping some stuff up that had to wait, and then I'm heading off again on Sunday after church.
The first is just a quick loop around Scottsbluff, Nebraska at two Harvest Hosts. Really, the reason for this trip is to just make sure everything is working and I have all my necessities. Pete and Carol pull their motorhome out of storage and spend a night in a KOA campground right across from their subdivision so they can assess what they need to have before they take off. Same idea here.
Then back home, collect supplies and take off on Sunday for parts east. I'm heading out to Minnesota. There are lots of little details, some finalized, some not, but that's why I'm writing this blog. The first two things in Minnesota are catching a Ray and Darlene family reunion for a night in Austin, MN and then heading back to Windom for Sally's 55th High School Reunion. Then back to Hayfield for a day or two and then start heading north. Eventually, I'll reach Bob's in Fertile and spend a few days there, and then amble back to Laradice again. I'm looking at being back around mid-July. I've got appointments and things during that last week, so that is my only real time crunch on getting home.
I will throw in one thing still tonight. Monday (the 12th) I had an appointment with Dr. Emma Bjore, who is the gerontologist at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. I have my general practice doctor, my urologist, my oncologist (sadly not the family oncologist in Conroe), my cardiologist, my dermatologist, my dentist, but her role is to be the umbrella specialist in aging. We had a great talk, my numbers looked good, I only lied a little about the walking that I'm doing, and her conclusion was "I'll see you on June 10, 2024. You're doing great." I did a little happy shuffle as I walked out. Happy dance may have been too much after a geriatric exam, but the effect is the same.... I was a Happy Child anyway!
That's it, I need to get a little sleep, but I'm only driving 140 miles tomorrow to get there, so I can leave by the crack of 12:00 if I need to and get to the winery by 4:00 for the tasting.... 😅
