YCGL - March 6, 2025 - What A Day...Need I say more???

Good writing dictates that you are suppose to start with the small stuff.  It's been a long day, my back has hurt the last half of it, and dad-gum-it, I want to show this.  I'll fill in the filler later, like tomorrow.

OK, time to back up.  Diving on Thursday and Friday have been great, the days you remember later and make you want to come back.   We saw lots and my camera worked somewhat on the first dive.

These next two days will be mostly pictures, because the photos tell the story.

Our morning dive was to Palancar Deep.  Steve and I stayed fairly close together.

(Remember, you can click on the photos to enlarge them!)

First turtle sighting of the day.  That's pretty exciting.  You don't see them often.  But a little later:

The second turtle sighting.  This is rare.  I don't remember ever seeing two turtles in one day, or one week.

It's swimming between Pepe and Steve!

There were a lot of fish!  The water is moving since they swim into the current.

There was a lot of black coral.  It's coming back.

The first lobster of the day.

Another unusual fish.

A spotted Trunkfish or a boxfish. This is                    A spotted Trunkfish or a boxfish. This is

white with black spots.                                                  black with white spots. They are both named the same.

Pepe and Steve entering a slot and Steve emerging from it.
Me too!

Today was Tortuga day, or Turtle day.  We saw several (or one several times) but this was the best.

Pepe located him under a ledge.  He is a different turtle that the one that swam between Pepe and Steve.
He is a Hawksbill Turtle.
We watched and swam around him for about two minutes.  But then he got tired of us and...

As he swam out from under the ledge, he swam right at me and Steve was able to get the video.  It was quite a rush!!!

Our second dive was at Chancanab Balcones.  It was supposed to be shallow enough so I can use my other camera.  In fact, it was uniformly deeper than 50 feet and the camera doesn't work below 45 feet.  So..... no pictures for the afternoon......(shoot!) (or no shoot, heck.)

These dives today were pretty memorable.  But Friday was yet to come.....
