You Can’t Get Lost -Day 11 & 12

Spoiler Alert:  Don’t look at the Banner Photo until you get to the end of this blog!

The Poke Nation is gathering. There has been more gold and brown at almost every game.

Playing some catch up. The men’s pigtail games were played yesterday starting at 11:00. The Cowboy Joe get together was it 1:00, so I opted to go to that.  It was at the Virgin Hotel (skip obvious jokes here) with open bar and Mexican num-nums.  Meeting new friends

This is how I saw the band and cheerleaders:

The world's fastest rendition of RagTime Cowboy Joe, on time-lapse.
Or a picture of the band and cheerleaders if the video never processes.

While checking hotels around Thomas and Mack, I found the Serene Boutique Hotel at $47/night (+$30 LV resort fee) so reserved for Wednesday night.  So after the get together, I checked in and took a nap, woke up early enough to go to the CSU alumni gathering they hold every night and had a hot dog.  Their band came in and then the coach who gave a pep talk.  Really kind of impressive.  Then off to the game.  As we walked back, we passed a statue.

For those that remember, Jerry “Sark the Shark” Tarkanian!  He was the UNLV coach for many years.

The Women’s Championship game against #1UNLV was an exciting game, but #6CSU lost 75-65.  CSU was behind by 2 with  about 4 minutes left then got into fouling UNLV who made their shots and missing their own on the return.

I thought the Serene was close but I got my "steps" in walking over (and it was well after 10:30) so I Ubered back.

The first game today (Thursday, March 10) was #1Boise against #8Nev which unfortunately Boise won 71-69.

Now, if you didn’t look at the banner, the next game was #4Wyoming against #5UNLV. It was a classic “neutral” home court advantage game (the Thomas and Mack Arena is where UNLV normally plays, except it is supposed to be a "neutral" court during the Tournament, which, of course, it isn't) but Well over half the crowd was cheering for UW.
Barrelman got a new hat!  The hat and the miniBarrel makes a complete new outfit!

Me and the Band...Does this look familiar Erik?
The stands don't look full or Brown and Gold, but
there are people from other schools to cheer us on.

The scores switched several times and we were down by five at 2: minutes, but free throws and rebounds saved the day.  (You may now look at the banner!)  It was a very happy win at 59-56.  But we play #1Boise State (Boise is not a state!) tomorrow.  I think their team averages about 4" over everyone else.  It is a team you love to hate.

CSU and Utah St was up next.  Again, it was a buzzer beater at the end, but CSU won 53-51.  San Diego beat Fresno 53-46, so #2CSU will play #3San Diego after our game tomorrow.

Our game doesn't start until 6:30 (and the CSU game at 9:00), so I can catch up on some other things, like with sleep and with the Talbott's who are coming to town!  Maybe see them tomorrow or Saturday.
